The Project
L.A. AFFAIRS ARTICLE
STORY
When I was commissioned to write this idea I had pitched to the L.A. Times, I was terrified. I came out to my greater community through this article about being bisexual and finding a home in the pole dancing scene in L.A., and it was an exercise of sharing my own story and being vulnerable. Since sharing this article, however, I received so many sweet messages — including from some people who used my story as inspiration to come out to their friend groups, as well.
DELIVERABLES
STORY FOR THE L.A. TIMES
In this article, I shared my experience as a woman coming out as bisexual, and the community that supported me in pole dancing gyms and beyond. You can read the article here.
IMPACT
One of the many kind emails I received from L.A. Times readers included someone saying that my story was one of their all-time favorite stories they’ve read in the Times. This article has also helped me prove my storytelling chops for some of the early memoirs I ghostwrote for inspiring clients all over the world. After all, if I can’t tell my own story, what business do I have writing others’ life stories? That inspired me to continue to refine my own storytelling chops on my blog so that I could also bring that magic to my clients who continue to hire me for my memoir ghostwriting and thought leadership writing services.
